Annie Oakley Practice

4th Friday of each month

4:30 to 6 PM

Boulder Rifle Club, Boulder CO

Indoor range fee is $4.00

We send out an e-mail reminder the Monday or Tuesday before our practice. If you would like to be on our e-mail list, please send me a message.

The Annie Oakley Practice started in 1994 as a way for women to maintain their shooting skills. Our practice session includes those who have guns and women who have taken a safety course but have not yet purchased a handgun. We provide a safe and comfortable place to shoot where you will not be the only woman on the range. Men often help out and occasionally a husband will shoot with us so our practice is not exclusively for women.

The women who attend include novices who have just completed a handgun class to those who have been shooting for years. Some enjoy target shooting, others are hunters and some have concealed weapon permits. We shoot a great variety of guns and are willing to let others try them.

If you have not attended a safety course, please contact me. Since I have to maintain safety for the entire group, I cannot normally focus the attention required for a beginning shooter. You are welcome to come and watch.

I provide eye and ear protection as well as targets, ammunition and some revolvers and semiautos in various calibers.

You do not have to own a handgun or be a member of the Boulder Rifle Club to participate. During the fall and winter months we shoot on the indoor range and there is a $4.00 range fee.

The Boulder Rifle Club range is located at the north end of North 26th street. From Boulder, go north on 28th (US 36) to the Jay road intersection (the last stop light leaving Boulder.) Stay on 28th and take the next right, which is North 26th street. It is a dirt road that ends at the range. The indoor range is in the large metal building.

During the spring and summer, we shoot outdoors on a 25 yard range. We hope to schedule an additional range time for those interested in shotgun shooting. The Boulder Rifle Club does not have a trap or skeet range but we can launch clays from one manual trap.
